The AO is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by a group of visionary surgeons, today, the AO has a global network of 200,000 health care professionals. Each year it offers over 830 educational events around the world, which are supported by nearly 9,000 faculty and are attended by over 58,000 participants. It has 20,000 surgeon members working in the fields of trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial (CMF), veterinary, and reconstructive surgery.

AO Trauma is the largest clinical division within the AO Foundation and continues to uphold the long established and successful history of the AO Foundation. AO Trauma provides clear direction and generates and distributes knowledge through research and education programs. The organization educates and facilitates open dialogue to encourage innova-tion, and influences trauma and orthopedic surgery.

We are looking for a highly motivated personality for our office in Davos for the role of:

Project Manager Education Middle East and Northern Africa


In this role you will plan, coordinate and control all aspects of AO Trauma educational activities (e.g. courses, seminars, symposia) for assigned countries in the Middle East and Northern African region (MENA). The Project Manager Education has overall responsibility for:

  • Organization and management of all educational activities for MENA (courses, seminars, symposia, webinar etc.) for assigned countries in close collaboration with surgeons, industrial partners and other organizational units of the AO Foundation utilizing standardized processes and IT-tools
  • Event budget planning with surgeons, industrial partners, controlling and regional team
  • Event-controlling and monitoring of financial performance of assigned events
  • Managing needs assessment for faculty development and provides input to AO faculty development team
  • Supporting the educational event chairperson to define educational program and manage faculty
  • Managing all reimbursements for chairperson and faculty
  • Managing and running the yearly regional course chairperson coordination meeting
  • Services to current and past participants of any AOTMENA educational event
  • Travel time: 3-4 times per year in MENA (incl. regional courses in Dubai)
  • Being the contact person for the industrial partner for AOTMENA educational events
  • Supporting AOTMENA Regional Director in all AOTMENA educational events

In order to master this challenge you have

  • A higher education "Fachausweis" (or equivalent) and/or a bachelor's degree, or at least five years professional experience in project/event management positions
  • Experience with budget planning and controlling
  • Versed in managing projects with a strong IT component
  • Familiar with a cross-cultural/cross-discipline working environment
  • Very good communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Proven service orientation and service mentality is desirable
  • Goal orientation and motivated and an energetic self-starter with the ability to work in culturally diverse teams
